“The Castle of Otranto”: The First Gothic Novel with Amazing Story

The Castle of Otranto is one of the big names in the gothic world. It is the first gothic novel written in 1764 by Horace Walpole. Such novels became inspirations for the modern gothic films, gothic rock (music) and gothic clothing etc. In The Castle of Otranto, the story revolves around the lord of a castle. His son dies in the light of prediction that the castle will be transferred to some other.  The lord tries to marry his son’s wife and the entire novel is based on his quest. But, in the end, she is married to a peasant who becomes the lord and the former lord kills his daughter and is left for repent.
